Ferrous removal

Magnetic Separation

Overband and drum magnets that remove ferrous metal from conveyors, feeders and chutes, protecting downstream equipment and cleaning every product.

The equipment

Ferrous removal at every stage

Removing ferrous metal early protects downstream equipment and lifts the value of every product. Overband magnets lift ferrous out of the burden on conveyors, feeders and chutes, while drum magnets recover ferrous continuously as material is fed over a magnetic drum.

Through MHP, magnets are specified to your belt width, burden depth and material, and positioned where they do the most good in the line.

The range

Equipment available through MHP

Each magnet is specified to the belt, burden depth and material it will handle.

  • 01

    Overband magnets

Self-cleaning magnets over conveyors, feeders and chutes.

  • 02

    Drum magnets

A vibrating feeder presents material to a magnetic drum for continuous ferrous recovery.

Typical applications

  • Shredded steel and light iron
  • Incinerator bottom ash and slag
  • Construction and demolition waste
  • Wood, RDF and waste paper
  • Waste glass
  • Auto shredder residue (ASR)
Technology in detail

Which magnet does what

Most lines use more than one magnet. MHP places each one where it protects equipment and adds the most value.

Over the belt

Overband magnets

A powerful magnet suspended across the conveyor lifts ferrous metal out of the burden. A self-cleaning belt carries it clear and discharges it to one side.

  • For conveyors, vibrating feeders and chutes
  • Modular construction with quick belt replacement
  • Strong penetration for deeper burdens
  • Specified to belt width and burden depth
Belt widths 500–1,600 mmSuspension height 150–450 mm
Continuous recovery

Drum magnets

A vibrating feeder spreads material evenly across a rotating magnetic drum. Ferrous metal is held to the drum and carried clear, while non-magnetic material falls away to the next stage.

  • Continuous ferrous recovery
  • Even feed from an integrated vibrating feeder
  • Protects eddy current and sensor sorters downstream
  • Suits shredder, IBA and ASR lines

Why buy through MHP

More than a machine on a lorry

  • Matched to your material

The machine is selected around your feed, throughput and target product, not a catalogue.

  • Installed properly

Installation, integration and commissioning are carried out by our own engineering team.

  • Supported afterwards

Spares, wear parts and site support are available through MHP.

Getting a quote

Three steps to a quote

  1. 01Tell us the material

What it is, its size range and what you need to recover or remove.

  2. 02Share your site details

Throughput, available space and any existing equipment.

  3. 03Receive options

MHP recommends a suitable machine and sends a quote. Prices are given on request.
